Abbott International’s All Star Philippines

The Brief

More than a thousand employees from around Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine go all-out to secure their spot at the Abbott All Star – a yearly gathering of the leading international pharmaceutical company and only the very best make it.  Abbott All Star has a reputation for taking participants to more adventurous destinations and offering them unusual and exotic experiences.  The more challenging the program and destination the better!

Held in different locations every year, All Star is the incentive event that you don’t want to miss. Top incentive travel destinations vie each year to be selected in as much as top executives of the said company outperform each other to be included on the list.  The Year 2019 saw just a select 70 medical representatives and executives attend the All Star Philippines held in Cebu, Philippines where they were recognized for their outstanding achievements.

Everything is kept under wraps until the event, so those that make it are blown away when they found out the event was going to be held in the historic Queen City of the South — Cebu, Philippines.

Part of our task was to design a team building activity that will not only engage all participants but also to immerse them with the Filipino culture, design and organize a gala dinner in a historical venue, and provide entertainment and program direction for the Send Off Party.

Our Solution

Team Building

From Shangri-la’s Mactan Island Hotel, guests travelled to the Team Building venue in Twin Creeks Heritage and Nature Park via Philippine Jeepney.  It was quite an experience for the participants being able to ride the traditional jeep.

After their 20-minute travel, participants were treated to a Barrio Fiesta event mood, complete with banderitas and Pinoy lanterns.  Guests were served with fresh buko juice as welcome drinks by the local community while being entertained by tribal percussionist drumbeaters.

Seven teams went through seven different challenges which were a combination of: competing in Larong Pinoy games, immersion in a traditional Filipino Way of Life and Cooking.

After the morning Teambuilding Activity, participants had a Filipino boodle fight experience. To top it off their Filipino culture immersion, guests were treated to an Arnis exhibition by Cebu’s best Eskrima Arnis Kali Group.

Gala Dinner

After a grueling but fun-filled day, participants headed to Fort San Pedro — the first and oldest fort in the Philippines — for the Cultural Dinner.  Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with the famous Sinulog Dance.  To set the mood for the night, guests were treated to an interactive Live Street Food cooking at the second level of the bastion while having photo opportunities with Sinulog Festival Queens. Guests were then transferred to the ground level for the Cultural Dinner.  Circa 1900 Catering created a special Filipino Buffet with Cebu Lechon as the piece-de-resistance. Guests were in awe when San Diego Dance Company performed the traditional Filipino dances particularly the Singkil.
